History
The resort's unique look was designed by William (Bill) Cone, who mastered his craft at The Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture at Taliesin West, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Originally opened in 1975, a significant renovation and expansion project, including the construction of a brand new Conference Center featuring 30,000 square feet (2,800 m2) of indoor/outdoor function space and state-of-the-art Fitness Center, was completed in 2008. It was renamed DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix Tempe in 2013.

Overview
The resort now serves three distinct customer segments. In addition to a destination for leisure travelers, the property also attracts corporate travelers. With the addition of the Conference Center, it now caters to the meetings and conventions market. The resort is also popular among those who live and work in the greater Phoenix "East Valley" areas; with both Milagros Restaurant and the Kachina Lounge considered favorites by many locals. The property's ownership group is composed of Capri Inc. and Gustin Property Investors. It is managed by Driftwood Hospitality Management.
